Can't you smell that smell ?

It should be of no surprise to the dozens of Redding California County and City workers that make their way to the downtown Yuba Street post office every work day that Redding has ranked so low as a city in regard to its people and their well being.

I suppose one can easily turn their head and avoid the oozing stains of blatant disregard that mar the sidewalks, or avoid the looks of elderly homeless who have been beaten and rolled by juvenile homeless heroine addicts desperate for another fix.

Unable to visually turn your head , a question not so easy to avoid as you approach the post office must assault your senses to be sure.

Oooooh  that smell...

With Record Searchlight bloggers writing about the halcyon days of the long gone McColl's Dairy or whimsical songs of what's to love of Redding, one must as a question.

Can't you smell that smell?

From winter days of years past our chronic downtown homeless suffer from frost bite that has festered  into something far more insidious. Several of them now have to remove the insect offspring that ghoulishly feast and deposit on the open wounds of our city... and their bodies.

From these visual and olfactory horrors Global Homeless Day was born.

Food , Tents, Sleeping bags and Tarps will be collected May 5th from 3 to 7 pm at Caldwell park. Just drive up and honk and someone will graciously accept your compassionate donations.

To be sure those homeless languishing  downtown may look City and County officials as well as downtown non profits managers in the eye as you pass by and wonder why you cant smell the putrid flesh and gangrene as well,

The smell of death that surrounds you...

My question is, where are they Possibly going to put a Tent or Even a Sleeping Bag?? Are they not going to have them taken away and sited by the Very First Po-Po that strolls along?? Isn't it Illegal to Camp anywhere in Redding?

You're doing a great job ! It's really awful for the people who are getting old while being homeless ! (not that it is easy for young ones) ! Thanks !

there are more real criminals out there than worry about the homeless ones. Our DA needs to get some help with criminal cases in our county. For instance, theres a case of attempt kidnaping, assault and stolen property that is a mother and child victim whom is still being abused since august by a perp still on the streets. She is abused stocked and living in fear every day. She has a restraining order but its only a piece of paper. The police cant seem to find the perp though he works at Creller Eurapean Atomotive Repaiir. His father, owner of the buisness, hides him both at work and at large in his home. I belive kidnapping is a felony and physical/sexual/mental batering abuse are too. the vitims perp has now moved down the street from her and her child...is that breaking the restaing order...well no one seens to care about this type of stocking and abuse until some one is killed.Well i pray to God that nothing like that has to happen before anyone helps her.All i know is i hope someone that can help her will step in and save her before i read about it in the news.
